About this role

Varda seeks a Spacecraft Ground Systems Software Engineer to develop and maintain critical ground segment software for spacecraft operations, including telemetry services, mission control interfaces, simulation tools, and deployment infrastructure. You'll work across the full stack of mission-critical systems supporting both lab testing and on-orbit operations.

What you'll do

  • Develop and maintain high-reliability ground segment services for telemetry ingestion, scaling, distribution, and spacecraft commanding
  • Design and deliver operator-grade mission control UIs and dashboards that reduce cognitive load during operations
  • Build simulation tools and test automation frameworks for flight software, device emulators, and scenario-based testing
  • Design and implement mission platform software including CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code, and hardware-in-the-loop frameworks
  • Create robust deployment patterns for lab, test range, and mission operations environments with safe rollout/rollback strategies
  • Standardize tooling and self-service platforms for mission and ground software teams

What they're looking for

  • Python development with strong language fundamentals
  • Real-time data acquisition and low-latency messaging systems
  • Systems design: concurrency, networking, performance, and reliability
  • Spacecraft or safety-critical software development
  • CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code
  • Mission control software and operator interfaces
  • Hardware-in-the-loop testing and simulation frameworks
  • Deployment strategies for restricted connectivity environments
