About this role

Varda seeks a Mission Software Engineer II to build and maintain critical ground segment software for spacecraft operations, including telemetry services, mission control interfaces, and simulation tools. You'll develop a robust platform enabling flight software teams and mission operators to safely integrate, test, and command vehicles across lab, test range, and orbital environments.

What you'll do

  • Develop and maintain high-reliability ground segment services for telemetry ingestion, scaling, distribution, and commanding
  • Design operator-grade mission control UIs and dashboards optimized for integration, testing, and on-orbit operations
  • Build simulation tools, device emulators, and automated test frameworks for avionics and GNC teams
  • Create and productionize the mission software platform including CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code, and observability tooling
  • Implement robust deployment strategies for lab, test range, and mission networks with safe rollout/rollback capabilities
  • Standardize service templates and test harnesses as self-service tooling for mission and ground software teams

What they're looking for

  • Python development with deep language understanding
  • Safety-critical software design and architecture
  • Real-time systems and deterministic behavior
