Assembly Integration & Test Engineer, Satellites
About this role
Vast is seeking a founding Assembly, Integration & Test Engineer to build the satellite manufacturing, integration, and test infrastructure from the ground up. You'll define integration flows, establish test philosophies, develop ground support equipment, and lead campaigns that prove satellites flight-ready while scaling from development units to production rates.
What you'll do
- Lead integration and test campaigns across all spacecraft development levels and own test data management
- Define test philosophy covering acceptance, qualification, and similarity-based approaches as production scales
- Develop and operate environmental test systems including vibration, thermal vacuum, thermal cycling, and EMI/EMC
- Design and maintain mechanical and electrical ground support equipment and test facilities
- Partner with design engineering on design-for-manufacture and design-for-test improvements during development
- Triage failures, conduct technical investigations, and drive process improvements for repeatability across vehicles
