Construction Field Engineer
About this role
Vast is seeking a Construction Field Engineer II in Long Beach to oversee the design and construction of facilities for next-generation space stations. You'll manage projects from initiation through completion, coordinate with contractors and internal teams, and ensure work meets safety, schedule, and budget requirements.
What you'll do
- Own and execute construction and facilities projects from start to finish, translating objectives into actionable plans and deliverables
- Coordinate directly with construction trades, contractors, and subcontractors in active field environments
- Verify field conditions against construction documents, document progress through photos and notes, and identify discrepancies
- Develop and maintain project schedules, trackers, and documentation while managing multiple concurrent projects
- Create contractor bids, conduct job walk-downs, and vet vendors with purchasing for approval and insurance
- Communicate project status, risks, and decisions to stakeholders and leadership; manage RFIs and budget monitoring
