Mechanical Test Engineer II
About this role
Vast is hiring a Test Engineer II in Long Beach to design, build, and operate test rigs for environmental control and life support systems (ECLSS) aboard next-generation commercial space stations. You'll own hardware test campaigns from setup through analysis, support flight qualification testing, and help transition the team toward production-ready processes.
What you'll do
- Design, build, and operate test rigs and ground support equipment for ECLSS fluid, chemical, and electrical control systems
- Perform hands-on assembly, integration, instrumentation, and testing of fluid systems, chemical subsystems, and electrical controls hardware
- Develop and maintain test procedures, work instructions, and hardware documentation with full traceability
- Support Haven-1 flight hardware through Acceptance and Qualification Test Campaigns and R&D testing
- Design test fixtures, wiring diagrams, and data acquisition setups in collaboration with manufacturing and controls teams
- Drive transition from R&D-level to production-ready test processes and support continuous improvement initiatives
