About this role
Verkada seeks backend engineering interns to develop scalable distributed systems for a leading physical AI security platform. You'll work with modern cloud technologies and build microservices handling millions of devices worldwide, requiring on-site presence at their San Mateo headquarters.
What you'll do
- Build and optimize scalable distributed systems handling high traffic from hundreds of thousands of devices
- Design and implement microservice architectures emphasizing low-latency and high-reliability patterns
- Work with key-value stores (Redis, DynamoDB), relational databases (Postgres), and message systems (Kafka, SQS)
- Deploy and manage services using Terraform and Kubernetes infrastructure
- Develop REST APIs and backend features in Python or Go
- Collaborate cross-functionally on computer vision integration and remote device configuration systems
