Embedded Software Engineer - Access Control
About this role
Verkada seeks an experienced Embedded Software Engineer to develop firmware and embedded systems for cloud-managed access control devices. You'll join a startup-within-startup team working on secure, Linux-based access control solutions deployed globally, with significant autonomy over major technical systems.
What you'll do
- Design and develop embedded Linux firmware for access control hardware
- Build secure, cloud-connected device software using C/C++ and Linux kernel technologies
- Implement device drivers, kernel patches, and secure boot mechanisms
- Collaborate with firmware, backend, and frontend engineers on product integration
- Own technical architecture and implementation of major access control system components
- Debug and optimize performance across distributed embedded systems
