About this role
Verkada seeks a Security Software Engineering Intern to join the Backend Engineering team at their San Mateo headquarters during winter or summer 2027. You'll design and build scalable distributed systems supporting physical AI security across millions of deployed devices worldwide, working with modern cloud infrastructure and microservices architectures.
What you'll do
- Build scalable distributed systems handling high traffic from hundreds of thousands of global devices
- Work with key-value storage systems like Redis and DynamoDB for high concurrency operations
- Develop and maintain Postgres relational databases and implement microservice architectures
- Design and deploy services using Terraform and Kubernetes
- Develop features incorporating computer vision and implement clean REST APIs in Python or Go
- Collaborate cross-functionally on logging, message passing, and remote device configuration systems
