CNC Machinist & Programmer III

Pittsburgh, PAmidAdded today

About this role

Voyager Lunar Systems seeks an experienced CNC Machinist & Programmer to operate multi-axis mills and lathes, machine complex aerospace components from challenging materials, and collaborate directly with engineering to optimize designs for manufacturability before production.

What you'll do

  • Set up and operate 3- to 5-axis CNC milling machines and turning centers for precision component production
  • Interpret complex engineering drawings with GD&T requirements and plan machining sequences to meet tight tolerances
  • Provide machinability feedback to design engineers on tolerancing, feature accessibility, and material selection
  • Perform first-article machining, optimizing feeds, speeds, and tool paths for difficult materials and geometries
  • Conduct in-process measurements using CMM and precision instruments; make offset adjustments to maintain tolerance
  • Support process qualification, capability studies, and documentation of machining results and tool life data

What they're looking for

  • Multi-axis CNC milling (3- to 5-axis) and lathe operation
  • Superalloy and hardened metal machining (nickel-based alloys, stainless steel, high-temperature materials)
  • Fanuc CNC controls and equivalent platforms (Mazak, Okuma, Heidenhain, Siemens)
  • GD&T per ASME Y14.5 and blueprint reading
  • CAM software (HyperMILL preferred) and CAD integration
  • Precision measurement (CMM, micrometers, bore gauges, surface profilometers)
  • Additive manufacturing post-processing and finishing
  • Process capability analysis (Cp/Cpk) and continuous improvement
