Systems Engineer III - Test
About this role
Lead rocket motor testing and subsystem verification activities for an aerospace defense company, managing test planning, hardware integration, and data analysis. This Systems Engineer III role requires hands-on propulsion test experience, strong technical skills in software and instrumentation, and the ability to mentor junior team members.
What you'll do
- Develop and execute detailed test plans, procedures and requirements for rocket motor testing and subsystem verification
- Lead integration and checkout of propulsion, avionics, and control systems for test campaigns
- Plan pre-test activities including instrumentation wiring, sensor calibration, control system verification, and DAQ integration
- Support and lead Test Readiness Reviews to ensure compliance with program and safety requirements
- Analyze test data, document findings, and provide technical recommendations for anomaly resolution
- Mentor junior engineers and act as technical lead for subsystem or system-level rocket motor test campaigns
