Systems Engineer – Project Engineer IV
About this role
Senior systems engineering leader for complex defense and aerospace programs who provides technical direction, program oversight, and strategic integration across multiple engineering disciplines. This role requires enterprise-level engineering authority to align design, performance, and risk management with mission and contractual objectives while mentoring teams and driving organizational improvements.
What you'll do
- Serve as chief project engineer or senior technical lead for large, multi-phase defense and aerospace programs
- Define and guide system architecture, integration, and verification strategies aligned with customer objectives
- Oversee engineering execution across multiple Integrated Product Teams and subcontractors for technical, cost, and schedule compliance
- Lead or chair major design and integration reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR) ensuring technical performance metrics readiness
- Manage customer and DoD interfaces at executive level, supporting technical interchange meetings and milestone reviews
- Mentor project engineers and functional leads while driving process improvements and systems engineering best practices adoption
