About this role
Waymo seeks a graduate-level software engineering intern to design and implement an automated pipeline for extracting semantic information from autonomous driving simulation logs into structured graph representations. The role combines machine learning, data systems, and visualization to enable efficient scenario discovery and failure analysis for autonomous vehicle development.
What you'll do
- Design and implement semantic extraction pipeline converting simulation logs and trajectory data into structured graph representations
- Develop temporal graph modeling techniques for multi-agent interactions and safety-critical driving events
- Build hybrid retrieval engine combining vector embeddings, keyword search, and graph traversal for scenario discovery
- Create interactive data exploration tools and visualization dashboards for scenario analysis
- Benchmark retrieval performance metrics against traditional search baselines
- Collaborate with simulation, ML, and infrastructure teams to document architecture and roadmap

- Python and/or C++ programming in Linux environments
- Deep learning frameworks (PyTorch, JAX, or TensorFlow)
- Graph Neural Networks and Knowledge Graph design
- Information Retrieval and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG)

- Temporal graph and bi-temporal data modeling
