About this role

Waymo seeks a Data Infra Engineer to design and operate high-throughput distributed data pipelines processing petabytes of autonomous vehicle telemetry. You'll own data ingestion, lake architecture, compliance infrastructure, and operational excellence for the Commercialization Data Lake platform.

What you'll do

  • Design and maintain distributed backend services (C++, Spark, Flink, Beam, Flume) for petabyte-scale data processing
  • Own scalable ingestion and transformation of raw system telemetry and RPC logs into canonical base tables
  • Build self-service data pipeline platforms with standardized templates and deployment gateways
  • Implement compliance, privacy, and security infrastructure including GDPR, ACLs, and identity proxies
  • Establish operational standards with regression tests, staging environments, and progressive rollout strategies
  • Collaborate with data engineers and scientists on platform consistency, DAG architecture, and dependency management
