About this role

Wayve seeks a Sensing Systems Engineer to own the sensor subsystem across autonomous vehicle platforms, ensuring sensor integration and performance meet requirements for reliable AI model development and safe deployment. This cross-functional role bridges robotics, hardware, vehicle software, and product teams to define sensing requirements, validate system performance, and drive data-driven vehicle readiness decisions.

What you'll do

  • Define sensing performance requirements and metrics aligned with model development, on-road performance, and broader applications
  • Develop and maintain clear sensing system requirements for perception and localization sensors, calibration quality, and related specifications
  • Support hardware and vehicle software teams to ensure correct sensor integration into vehicle platforms
  • Design and implement validation frameworks to evaluate sensing performance and establish benchmarks for vehicle bring-up
  • Diagnose and resolve sensor-related issues before they impact autonomous driving behavior
  • Coordinate cross-functional decisions on sensor configuration, trade-offs, and system architecture across Robotics, AV Product, Hardware, and Vehicle Software teams

What they're looking for

  • Systems engineering and requirements definition
  • Hands-on sensor integration (camera, LiDAR, and/or radar)
  • Multi-sensor system architecture knowledge
  • Sensor performance evaluation and real-world testing
  • Metrics and benchmark development
  • Cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder management
  • Autonomous vehicles or robotics systems experience
  • Data quality and machine learning integration understanding
