Forward Deployed Engineer
About this role
webAI is seeking a Forward Deployed AI Engineer to deploy and maintain distributed AI systems directly in enterprise customer environments. You'll own the deployment process, serve as the technical lead on customer projects, and help bridge research and operations while working at the cutting edge of edge AI infrastructure.
What you'll do
- Own and continuously improve deployment runbooks based on real-world field experience
- Serve as primary technical contact for customers during deployment and early production phases
- Build internal tooling and automation to make deployments faster and more repeatable
- Debug and optimize data pipelines and AI systems running on customer networks
- Translate ambiguous customer requirements into well-scoped technical solutions
- Provide trusted technical guidance to enterprise clients and gather feedback for product improvements
What they're looking for
- 5+ years software/field/deployment engineering experience
- Production ML/AI system deployment and maintenance
- Python, Bash, or similar scripting/automation
- Debugging complex systems with data pipelines and model inference
- Exceptional communication and requirements translation
- Edge device or consumer hardware deployment experience
- DevOps tooling and distributed systems knowledge
- Privacy-preserving AI and secure compute environments
