About this role

Join xAI's High Power Engineering team to design and maintain electrical infrastructure for AI training campuses. As a Power System Engineer in Memphis, TN, you'll own the critical power models, conduct complex electrical studies, and ensure safe, reliable operation of high-capacity systems supporting compute demand.

What you'll do

  • Develop and maintain the master power model for Memphis campus, including load flow, short circuit, arc flash, coordination, and transient stability studies
  • Create sitewide power budgets, monitoring systems, and metering infrastructure for mission-critical assets
  • Perform detailed electrical analysis and justify relay settings based on comprehensive system studies
  • Feed interconnection data, relay configurations, and battery storage sizing from a single unified model across teams
  • Design standardized study cases for facility expansions, storage dispatch, islanding, and black start scenarios
  • Ensure compliance with NFPA 70, 70B, 70E, NESC, and IEEE electrical safety and design standards

  • Power systems analysis software (ETAP, SKM, EasyPower, PowerWorld, PSS/E, PSCAD, ASPEN)
  • Load flow, short-circuit, arc-flash, coordination, and transient stability studies
  • High-voltage industrial power systems design (up to 345 kV)
  • Electrical CAD tools (Revit, AutoCAD, NX)
  • Knowledge of switchgear, transformers, BESS, motors, relaying, and protective devices
  • Strong analytical and engineering fundamentals
  • Electrical safety standards and compliance (NFPA, NESC, IEEE)
  • Cross-functional communication and technical documentation
