About this role
Waymo seeks a Software Engineer to join the Planner Reasoning Team, which owns the core decision-making logic for the autonomous Waymo Driver. You'll develop and optimize driving behaviors, evaluate performance using data-driven methods, and collaborate across teams to enhance safety and ride quality as Waymo scales.
What you'll do
- Develop business logic software to advance the Waymo Driver's driving performance and behavior
- Collaborate cross-functionally on safety, regulatory compliance, and passenger experience
- Design and implement evaluation methods to measure and improve autonomous driving behaviors
- Analyze real-world and simulated driving data to characterize driver performance and identify issues
- Integrate and leverage ML models to solve complex autonomous driving challenges
- Evaluate proposed system changes using data-driven validation approaches
