Deputy Chief Engineer
About this role
Zone 5 Technologies seeks a Deputy Chief Engineer to lead the technical development and integration of next-generation unmanned aircraft systems. You'll work alongside the Chief Engineer to drive system architecture, engineering strategy, and cross-functional execution across aerodynamics, flight controls, autonomy, and communications disciplines.
What you'll do
- Lead end-to-end UAS development from concept through production
- Define system architecture and technical requirements for aerodynamic design, propulsion, guidance, and payload integration
- Oversee integration of aircraft systems including mechanical interfaces, communications, and launch enclosures
- Drive technical decision-making across multidisciplinary engineering teams
- Establish and maintain technical standards, design processes, and verification methodologies
- Collaborate with Chief Engineer on technical strategy and platform execution
