Coatings and Materials Manufacturing Engineer
About this role
Lead the manufacturing scale-up and industrialization of advanced coatings, fibers, and composite materials for 1X's humanoid robots. You'll oversee process development, equipment selection, production commissioning, and operator training to transition materials from lab to high-volume manufacturing.
What you'll do
- Scale advanced coating and fiber material processes from laboratory to production, managing capacity, cycle time, yield, and cost optimization
- Develop and validate repeatable manufacturing processes with defined process windows, SOPs, work instructions, and production-readiness criteria
- Specify, source, and commission production equipment, tooling, fixtures, and automation systems
- Apply DOE, SPC, PFMEA, and root-cause analysis to improve yield, throughput, quality, and safety
- Define critical-to-quality characteristics, inspection methods, and acceptance criteria for material and product requirements
- Establish technical documentation systems including process specs, validation protocols, training materials, and production records
