Adaptive Biotechnologies seeks an Equipment Engineer I in Seattle to manage and support a diverse fleet of laboratory and facility equipment while contributing to process improvements and automation development. This role combines hands-on equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, and compliance documentation with opportunities to specialize in development or operational areas.

What you'll do

  • Install and qualify standard lab equipment including pipettes, thermocyclers, centrifuges, and environmental monitoring systems
  • Coordinate preventative maintenance and calibration for complex equipment like liquid handlers and sequencers
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues and manage incidents with structured problem-solving approaches
  • Support equipment lifecycle management, documentation, and compliance with quality standards
  • Develop and implement continuous improvement initiatives for laboratory and business processes
  • Train end users on equipment operation and document standard operating procedures

What they're looking for

  • Equipment installation and operational qualification (IOQ/IOQL)
  • Troubleshooting and problem-solving with Lean Six Sigma or first principles approaches
  • Documentation writing (SOPs, protocols, change control requests, risk assessments)
  • Experience with automated liquid handling platforms (Hamilton, Tecan, Dynamic Devices, Formulatrix)
  • Benchtop lab equipment operation and maintenance
  • Metrics gathering and reporting
  • Programming languages (VB, C#, Python, JavaScript) - preferred
  • Molecular biology techniques (PCR, NGS) - preferred
