Software Engineer, Tax Experience, BizTech

About this role

Airbnb seeks a Software Engineer to join the Tax Experience team, developing user-facing products that handle tax compliance and regulatory challenges across the platform. You'll own end-to-end features, work cross-functionally with legal and support teams, and build systems that adapt to evolving business needs in a complex domain.

What you'll do

• Write and own end-to-end features for tax and compliance products used by millions of hosts and guests
• Collaborate with core team on solution design, implementation, and operational excellence
• Execute on new ideas that help the platform adapt to ambiguous or shifting business requirements
• Work across complex systems and multiple codebases to understand and solve tax domain challenges
• Partner with cross-functional teams including Legal, Customer Support, and Experience Design
• Contribute to engineering culture and best practices across the organization

What they're looking for

• Proficiency in Java, Kotlin, Scala, Python, Go, Rust, or C/C++/C#
• Full-stack feature development and systems thinking
• Cross-functional communication and collaboration
• Managing ambiguous and rapidly changing requirements
• Tax, compliance, or finance domain knowledge (DAC7, OECD, KYC, VAT preferred)
• Problem-solving in complex, large-scale systems
• Code quality and operational excellence mindset
