Alarm.com is hiring a Quality Engineer (SDET) for their Tysons, Virginia office to support web and mobile application quality through manual testing, test automation, and modern QA practices. This entry-level role is designed for recent graduates or those with minimal QA experience who are eager to build automation skills and learn quality engineering fundamentals within a collaborative product development environment.
What you'll do
- Execute manual test cases and document defects through the resolution process
- Develop and maintain automated UI and API tests under guidance from senior engineers
- Collaborate with product and engineering teams to understand requirements and acceptance criteria
- Maintain test frameworks, tools, test data, and environments
- Perform functional, regression, smoke, and sanity testing for releases
- Learn CI/CD pipeline integration and investigate issues using logs and code review

- Manual and automated testing (UI/API)
- Java, Python, or JavaScript programming
- Test automation tools (Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, Postman)
- Git or version control systems
- Software testing concepts and quality assurance fundamentals
- SQL or data validation (preferred)
- Agile/Scrum methodologies (preferred)
- AI-assisted testing tools (emerging exposure)
