Alarm.com is hiring a Quality Engineer (SDET) for their Tysons, Virginia office to support web and mobile application quality through manual testing, test automation, and modern QA practices. This entry-level role is designed for recent graduates or those with minimal QA experience who are eager to build automation skills and learn quality engineering fundamentals within a collaborative product development environment.

What you'll do

  • Execute manual test cases and document defects through the resolution process
  • Develop and maintain automated UI and API tests under guidance from senior engineers
  • Collaborate with product and engineering teams to understand requirements and acceptance criteria
  • Maintain test frameworks, tools, test data, and environments
  • Perform functional, regression, smoke, and sanity testing for releases
  • Learn CI/CD pipeline integration and investigate issues using logs and code review

  • Manual and automated testing (UI/API)
  • Java, Python, or JavaScript programming
  • Test automation tools (Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, Postman)
  • Git or version control systems
  • Software testing concepts and quality assurance fundamentals
  • SQL or data validation (preferred)
  • Agile/Scrum methodologies (preferred)
  • AI-assisted testing tools (emerging exposure)
