About this role
Allen Control Systems seeks an experienced Firmware Engineer to develop low-level embedded software for autonomous aircraft systems. You'll architect and implement time-critical firmware on STM32 platforms, manage sensor integration, design deployment strategies, and establish HIL testing infrastructure for fielded defense systems.
What you'll do
- Design and implement time- and safety-critical embedded firmware architecture on STM32-based platforms
- Develop drivers for sensors and peripherals; select appropriate communication protocols (CAN, I2C, UART, Ethernet)
- Create bootloader designs and field deployment strategies including over-the-air update mechanisms
- Build and maintain hardware-in-the-loop testing infrastructure for validation
- Produce comprehensive design documentation capturing architectural decisions and tradeoffs
- Evaluate and refactor existing firmware ecosystems based on project requirements
