Design Release Engineer- Soft Trim
About this role
ALTEN Technology USA seeks a Design Release Engineer for automotive interior soft trim development in Long Beach, California. You'll manage material engineering, detail design, and production launch of premium interior components like wrapped panels and seat surrounds, collaborating across design, manufacturing, and supplier teams throughout the product lifecycle.
What you'll do
- Develop and release soft interior trim components meeting luxury, safety, ergonomics, and durability standards
- Translate design intent into manufacturable soft trim constructions while maintaining design fidelity
- Define material and construction specifications for substrates, foam, skin, and adhesive systems
- Manage component-level DFMEA, DVPR, and robustness documentation through design milestones
- Collaborate with CMF, design, vehicle engineering, and suppliers to ensure quality and on-time delivery
- Support durability testing, DFM assessments, prototype builds, and resolution of surface and texture quality issues
