Durability Test Engineer

About this role

ALTEN Technology USA seeks an experienced Durability Test Engineer to develop and execute whole-vehicle durability testing programs for an autonomous robotaxi platform. The role involves designing test plans, conducting proving ground and road tests, analyzing in-service failures, and communicating durability findings to design teams.

What you'll do

• Design and manage comprehensive whole-vehicle durability and accelerated mileage accumulation test plans
• Lead durability testing execution at proving grounds, public roads, and specialized test facilities
• Plan and execute on-vehicle instrumentation and data acquisition to capture loads, strains, and vibrations
• Investigate durability-related failures through root cause analysis and field data review
• Track and verify performance of newly integrated components during vehicle-level testing
• Generate detailed reports on test results and communicate design mitigations to engineering teams

• Whole-vehicle durability testing and test planning
• Road load data acquisition (RLDA) and instrumentation setup
• Multi-channel DAQ hardware operation (Somat, HBM, Dewetron)
• Sensor installation (strain gauges, accelerometers, displacement transducers, thermocouples)
• Failure analysis and root cause investigation
• Electric vehicle (EV) testing experience
• Data analysis and technical reporting
• Automotive design and performance validation knowledge
