Firmware Validation Engineer
About this role
ALTEN Technology USA seeks a hands-on Firmware Validation Engineer in Foster City to lead manual testing and defect triage for automotive audio and connectivity features. You'll own day-to-day test execution, root-cause analysis using logs and diagnostic tools, and field issue resolution across in-cabin connected systems.
What you'll do
- Execute manual functional, integration, regression, and exploratory testing for audio and streaming features on bench and in-vehicle setups
- Author new test cases and expand existing test suites to close coverage gaps while maintaining documentation
- Reproduce defects and perform root-cause analysis using Wireshark, DLT, ADB, HCI traces, and vehicle logs
- Triage field-reported issues, reproduce in lab, narrow scope, and drive resolution with firmware and fleet teams
- Manage full defect lifecycle in JIRA with clear reproduction steps, logs, severity justification, and regression verification
- Maintain test benches, in-vehicle rigs, and diagnostic setups to keep them release-ready

- Manual firmware and embedded product validation (8+ years)
- Connectivity protocols: Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, cellular, GNSS, or vehicle networking
- Log analysis and debugging tools: Wireshark, DLT, ADB, HCI traces
- Test case authoring and test plan development
- Python scripting for automation and log parsing
- Linux/Ubuntu command line
- JIRA and Confluence
- Agile release cycle experience
