Rear Roller Door Design Engineer
About this role
ALTEN Technology USA seeks an experienced automotive design engineer to lead the development of rear roller door systems for commercial vehicles. You'll own the full engineering lifecycle—from requirements definition through production validation—while collaborating across functional teams on actuation, controls, and integration challenges.
What you'll do
- Define component and system engineering requirements for cargo door and closure systems
- Develop CAD models, detailed drawings, and engineering releases using CATIA
- Perform packaging, tolerance analysis, and design feasibility studies
- Support CAE analysis, prototype builds, testing, and validation activities
- Resolve design, manufacturing, quality, and launch issues through root cause analysis
- Collaborate with internal teams, suppliers, and customers on interfaces and changes
What they're looking for
- 5+ years automotive or commercial vehicle engineering experience
- CATIA 3Dx, 3D Experience, or V5 proficiency (2+ years)
- GD&T and tolerance analysis
- DFMA and serviceability design principles
- Cargo doors, roller doors, and automated closure systems knowledge
- Problem-solving and root cause analysis
- Cross-functional collaboration and communication
- Concept-to-production vehicle development
