Thermal Systems Packaging Engineer
About this role
ALTEN Technology USA seeks a Thermal Systems Packaging Engineer to design and develop HVAC and thermal management systems for advanced vehicles. You'll handle packaging, CAD modeling, tolerance analysis, and cross-functional collaboration from concept through production launch in a fast-paced automotive engineering environment.
What you'll do
- Define component and system engineering requirements for thermal systems
- Create CAD models, drawings, and engineering releases using CATIA
- Perform packaging, tolerance, and feasibility studies for thermal integration
- Support CAE, prototyping, testing, and validation activities
- Resolve design, manufacturing, quality, and production launch issues
- Collaborate with internal teams, suppliers, and customers on interfaces and requirements

- HVAC, compressor, and thermal system packaging expertise
- CATIA 3Dx or 3D Experience CAD software
- GD&T and tolerance analysis
- DFMA and serviceability design principles
- Root cause analysis and problem-solving
- Interface definition with vehicle components (IP, cross-car beams, autonomy hardware)
- Vehicle concept-to-production development knowledge
- Cross-functional communication and teamwork
