Anduril Industries
Flight Test Instrumentation Engineer
About this role
Anduril Industries seeks a Flight Test Instrumentation Engineer to design, install, and operate advanced telemetry and data acquisition systems for Group 5 unmanned aircraft. You'll work cross-functionally to solve complex instrumentation challenges in high-stakes defense applications, traveling to test ranges up to 50% of the time.
What you'll do
- Decompose requirements and select flight test instrumentation using digital tools, communicating insights to stakeholders
- Diagnose and resolve instrumentation and RF telemetry issues through technical investigation and data interpretation
- Design and implement analytics-driven customer-facing products displaying system performance metrics and trend analysis
- Design, fabricate, and install sensors, data paths, and equipment into experimental aircraft, including wire harness fabrication and routing
- Perform instrument calibrations and pre-flight checks as an approving signatory for GO/NO-GO flight decisions
- Operate and maintain telemetry auto-tracking ground systems; travel to test sites in California, Nevada, Texas, and Oregon
What they're looking for
- Embedded data acquisition systems for aircraft
- Data visualization and analytical tools (MATLAB, LabVIEW, Simulink, IADS)
- High-channel-count mechanical measurement systems (100-400+ measurands)
- RF telemetry design and implementation
- Grounding, bonding, and shielding for analog-to-digital signals in multi-band RF environments
- Composite and exotic material installations
- Requirements decomposition and systems engineering
- Cross-functional collaboration and technical communication
