IT Cybersecurity Engineer
About this role
Vulcan Elements seeks an IT Cybersecurity Engineer to deploy and operate security tools, manage identity systems, and support NIST SP 800-53 compliance in a regulated manufacturing environment serving defense and aerospace sectors. This hands-on role combines daily security operations with federal compliance framework exposure in a national-security-focused organization.
What you'll do
- Deploy, configure, and operate SIEM, EDR, vulnerability scanning, and email/web security controls
- Administer Active Directory/Entra ID with MFA, least-privilege access, and Conditional Access policies
- Execute vulnerability scans, prioritize findings, and drive remediation with system owners
- Monitor security alerts, investigate incidents, and lead root cause analysis for IT systems
- Support NIST SP 800-53 Low-Impact Baseline assessment, System Security Plan, and POA&M documentation
- Own patch management, secure configuration baselines, and security review for new systems and vendors
