Anduril Industries
GNC Engineer, Space
About this role
Anduril Industries seeks a GNC Engineer to design and implement guidance, navigation, and control systems for satellites across multiple orbital regimes. You'll develop flight software, autonomous operations capabilities, and validation test plans while collaborating with systems, flight software, and mission operations teams on funded defense space programs.
What you'll do
- Design and develop GNC software and hardware subsystems for spacecraft in LEO, MEO, GEO, and other orbital regimes
- Create autonomous spacecraft operations approaches with maneuvering capabilities and flight software algorithms
- Develop test plans and procedures for ground checkout, on-orbit commissioning, and operational phases
- Conduct hardware-in-the-loop and monte-carlo simulations with fault detection and response capabilities
- Collaborate across multiple teams to integrate complex GNC functionality and coordinate with customers and end-users
- Support ground testing, launch operations, and on-orbit spacecraft system operations
What they're looking for
- Spacecraft dynamics and orbital mechanics
- Control theory and attitude determination/control
- MATLAB, Simulink, Python, C++, or Go programming
- Linux systems and software development
- Rendezvous, proximity operations, and docking (RPOD)
- Flight software design and implementation
- Test plan development and execution
- System integration and validation

Likely interview questions
- Walk us through your experience with spacecraft GNC subsystems—specifically, which components (sensors, actuators, flight software) have you worked with, and what was your role in their integration and testing?
- Describe a project where you developed or validated GNC algorithms for orbital mechanics. What tools did you use (MATLAB, Simulink, Python), and how did you approach simulation and analysis?
