Software Engineer, Agentic Modeling & Simulation

Washington, District of Columbia, United StatesFrom $292kmidAdded today

About this role

Anduril seeks a full-stack software engineer to build agentic modeling and simulation systems that accelerate military operational planning. You'll integrate LLMs, multi-agent architectures, and physics-backed simulation engines to create AI-assisted planning tools that reduce planning cycles from days to minutes.

What you'll do

  • Build agentic workflows integrating LLM tool use, function calling, and planning loops with simulation engines and mission planning systems
  • Design multi-agent architectures modeling human decision-making, adversary responses, and operational constraints in military operations
  • Develop backend services for scenario creation, entity tasking, simulation state retrieval, and course-of-action generation
  • Improve observability and evaluation for agent behavior to ensure generated scenarios are inspectable and operationally useful
  • Partner with warfighters, simulation experts, and autonomy engineers to translate planning workflows into reliable software
  • Learn DoD modeling and simulation tools including AFSIM, STORM, and campaign/mission-level simulation concepts

What they're looking for

  • Backend service development and API design
  • Python or Go proficiency
  • LLM integration (tool calling, RAG, structured outputs, agent orchestration)
  • AI/ML systems reliability and safety
  • Multi-agent system architecture
  • Physics simulation and modeling systems
  • gRPC/protobuf and Kubernetes (preferred)
  • Cross-functional collaboration with technical and non-technical stakeholders

Benefits

  • Salary range: $191,000–$292,000 USD
  • Work on cutting-edge autonomy and AI technology for national defense
  • Collaborate with warfighters and domain experts on high-impact problems
  • Opportunity to ship production agentic systems at scale
