Anduril Industries
Software Engineer, Agentic Modeling & Simulation
About this role
Anduril seeks a full-stack software engineer to build agentic AI systems that integrate modeling, simulation, and mission planning for military operations. You'll design multi-agent architectures and backend services that enable warfighters to author scenarios, evaluate courses of action, and accelerate planning cycles using natural language and AI-assisted reasoning.
What you'll do
- Build agentic workflows that expose modeling and simulation capabilities through natural language interfaces and APIs
- Design multi-agent architectures modeling human decision-making, adversary behavior, and operational constraints
- Integrate LLM tool use, function calling, RAG, and planning loops with simulation engines and mission planning systems
- Develop backend services for scenario creation, entity tasking, state retrieval, and real-time analysis
- Collaborate with warfighters, model/sim experts, and autonomy engineers to translate operational workflows into software
- Improve observability and evaluation for agent behavior to ensure generated scenarios are inspectable and operationally useful
What they're looking for
- Backend service and API design for stateful systems
- AI/ML and LLM-powered software development (tool calling, RAG, agents)
- Python, Go, or similar backend language
- Multi-agent architecture and orchestration
- Modeling and simulation systems integration
- gRPC/protobuf and Kubernetes (preferred)
- Operational planning and mission software domain knowledge
- System reliability and safety for high-stakes environments
Benefits
- Salary: $191,000–$292,000 USD
- Work on cutting-edge defense AI and autonomy technology
- Direct impact on military operational capabilities
- Collaborative environment with warfighters and technical experts
- Opportunity to learn DoD modeling tools (AFSIM, STORM)
