Cloud Security Engineer

About this role

Apex is seeking a Cloud Security Engineer to design and secure cloud environments for U.S. government and defense missions across AWS, Azure, and hybrid platforms. The role involves implementing compliance frameworks like FedRAMP and NIST 800-53, managing cloud security tools, and protecting classified data while supporting satellite bus manufacturing operations.

What you'll do

• Design and implement secure cloud architectures across AWS GovCloud, Azure, and Google Cloud with encryption and network segmentation
• Implement compliance frameworks including NIST 800-53, FedRAMP, DoD Impact Levels, and SCCA requirements
• Configure IAM, RBAC, Zero Trust Architecture, and manage access controls across cloud environments
• Deploy and optimize security tools including Microsoft Defender, Azure Sentinel, and SIEM platforms for threat detection
• Conduct vulnerability assessments, penetration testing, and security reviews against STIGs and CIS benchmarks
• Develop security documentation including SSPs, SARs, POA&Ms and coordinate incident response activities
