About this role
Apex is hiring a Mission Operations Engineer to oversee all aspects of satellite operations, including mission planning, commissioning, anomaly response, and long-term reliability. You'll own the operations roadmap for a satellite bus line and collaborate with internal teams and customers to ensure mission success while shaping processes and spacecraft designs.
What you'll do
- Develop, validate, and execute mission plans and operations products for flight vehicles
- Lead spacecraft commissioning during launch and early operations phases
- Operate satellites in real time, detect anomalies, and execute safing and recovery procedures
- Design and implement fault protection strategies for onboard and ground systems
- Analyze telemetry and mission data to assess spacecraft health and performance
- Mentor junior engineers and standardize mission operations practices across programs

- Mission operations and planning
- Spacecraft commissioning and anomaly resolution
- Programming (Python, C++, or Rust)
- Spacecraft subsystems knowledge (propulsion, avionics, communications)
- Telemetry analysis and automation
- Satellite operations software (STK, GMAT, or similar)
- Real-time and distributed systems testing
- Problem-solving and decision-making under pressure
