About this role
Appian is hiring a Software Engineer II in McLean, VA to build enterprise-grade AI automation software. You'll own meaningful features across the full platform stack, work with AI coding tools fluently, and collaborate in a fast-paced environment focused on technical excellence and clean code.
What you'll do
- Develop robust full-stack software components using data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented design patterns
- Use AI coding assistants (Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, etc.) to generate and critically evaluate code while maintaining quality
- Participate in technical design, architectural decisions, and acceptance criteria definition for new features
- Influence team engineering practices through code reviews, automated testing, and quality standards
- Diagnose and resolve emergent platform issues, building automation to prevent recurrence
- Collaborate in Agile cycles using Git for version control in a highly collaborative environment
