DevSecOps Engineer - Government
About this role
Applied Intuition seeks a DevSecOps Engineer to secure the full software delivery lifecycle for government and defense customers. You'll design and enforce CI/CD security controls, integrate scanning tools, and translate NIST/DoD compliance requirements into automated engineering practices while supporting developers across classified and air-gapped environments.
What you'll do
- Own secure code integration from source through build, test, release, and deployment pipelines
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines with SAST, DAST, SCA, secrets scanning, and container scanning integration
- Define promotion gates, severity thresholds, and exception workflows to balance security and delivery velocity
- Implement preventive and detective controls in AWS GovCloud including SCPs, Config, Security Hub, and automated remediation
- Lead threat modeling and security design reviews, mapping technical controls to NIST 800-53, DISA STIGs, and CMMC Level 2
- Support software promotion into classified and air-gapped systems with offline dependency management and controlled transfer workflows

- CI/CD pipeline design and security automation (Jenkins, GitLab, GitHub Actions, or equivalent)
- Python, Bash, Go, or similar scripting and software development
- AWS GovCloud administration (IAM, KMS, CloudTrail, Service Control Policies, Security Hub)
- Infrastructure-as-code and policy-as-code (Terraform, CloudFormation, OPA/Rego, cfn-guard)
- Static and dynamic application security testing (SAST, DAST, SCA, secrets scanning)
- Container and artifact security (image scanning, SBOM generation, artifact signing, admission control)
- NIST and DoD compliance frameworks (800-53, 800-171, DISA STIGs, CMMC)
- Threat modeling and secure development practices
