About this role

Applied Intuition seeks a Perception Software Engineer to develop and deploy real-time AI/ML sensor algorithms across autonomous vehicles for automotive, defense, and other industries. You'll integrate multi-modal sensors (EO, IR, radar, lidar, etc.), manage sensor fusion systems, and collaborate with autonomy teams to deliver field-tested solutions for DoD and commercial customers.

What you'll do

  • Develop and integrate AI/ML perception algorithms onto heterogeneous autonomous platforms with multiple sensor types
  • Design sensor control interfaces and implement optimal fusion strategies across EO, IR, radar, acoustics, and RF systems
  • Deploy containerized solutions to embedded Linux devices and conduct hardware-in-the-loop testing and profiling
  • Collaborate with sensor, tracking, and autonomy teams to ensure seamless integration and field deployment
  • Engage with DoD customers to understand requirements, troubleshoot during field events, and gather feedback
  • Develop simulation tooling for post-processing field test analysis and drive improvement plans based on results

What they're looking for

  • AI/ML algorithm development (Python, PyTorch, TensorFlow)
  • Multi-sensor perception and fusion (EO, IR, lidar, radar, sonar, acoustics)
  • Sensor physics and control parameters
  • Kalman filtering and tracking fundamentals
  • Linux and Docker containerization
  • C++ model deployment (ONNX)
  • Hardware-in-the-loop testing and system integration
  • Large dataset processing and remote software development

Benefits

  • Work on cutting-edge physical AI and autonomy technology
  • Collaboration with top global automakers and U.S. military partners
  • Flexible work arrangements with primary office presence in Sunnyvale
  • Exposure to diverse domains (automotive, defense, construction, agriculture, etc.)
  • Fast-paced environment with direct customer interaction and field deployment opportunities
  • Impact on mission-critical autonomous systems
