Arc Boat Company
Marine Systems Engineer
About this role
Arc is seeking a Marine Systems Engineer to design and develop electric propulsion systems and marine platforms for commercial vessels. You'll own mechanical systems from concept through on-water testing, collaborating across naval architecture, electrical, and manufacturing teams to scale Arc's electrification platform.
What you'll do
- Design marine propulsion, drivetrain, and thermal/fluid systems including shafting, couplings, cooling loops, and ventilation
- Collaborate with naval architects on hull integration, packaging, weight distribution, and load analysis
- Conduct structural, thermal, and hydrodynamic analysis to validate components before production
- Build and execute test plans on the bench, dock, and water; iterate designs based on results
- Release engineering drawings, GD&T specifications, BOMs, and drive DFM/DFA with manufacturing partners
- Support regulatory compliance (USCG, ABS, ISO) and evaluate critical marine hardware suppliers
What they're looking for
- 3D CAD design (SolidWorks, NX, or CATIA)
- Machine design fundamentals (statics, dynamics, thermodynamics, fluids, tolerance stack-up)
- PDM/PLM workflow management
- Structural and thermal analysis
- Propulsion and drivetrain systems design
- Manufacturing for design and assembly (DFM/DFA)
- Marine regulatory and compliance knowledge
- Hands-on testing and prototyping
