About this role
Archer, an aerospace company in San Jose, is seeking an Electrical Integration Engineer to lead the integration and testing of all-electric aircraft powertrain systems. You'll design and commission high-voltage test systems, manage complex electrical-mechanical architectures, and ensure safety-critical validation for their four-passenger eVTOL aircraft.
What you'll do
- Design and integrate powertrain test systems connecting high-voltage components such as batteries, converters, motors, and actuators
- Develop electrical and mechanical designs for test enclosures and high-voltage harness systems for flight-representative validation
- Interpret Interface Control Documents and schematics to resolve integration challenges independently and with SME collaboration
- Commission Iron Bird-like testbed systems including battery emulators and dynamometers with simulation and automation capabilities
- Conduct technical evaluation and testing of powertrain components while managing supply chain and hardware logistics
- Collaborate cross-functionally on power requirements, thermal management, and compliance with aviation safety standards
What they're looking for
- High-voltage powertrain integration and debugging
- Test equipment design and build including power switching topologies
- Software automation (Python, LabVIEW, MATLAB) for test scripting and data acquisition
- Electrical and mechanical CAD tools, harness design
- Root cause analysis and rigorous troubleshooting methodologies
- Battery and dynamometer systems operation principles
- EMI mitigation and thermal management
- Aerospace or automotive certification standards (DO-160, ISO 26262)
Benefits
- Work on cutting-edge sustainable aviation technology
- Hands-on role with end-to-end ownership from design through validation
- Collaborative environment with power electronics, software, and thermal teams
- Mission-driven company focused on electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft
- Diverse and inclusive workplace culture
Likely interview questions
- Describe a complex electrical system integration you've led—what challenges did you encounter and how did you resolve them?
- Tell us about your experience with high-voltage powertrain systems or similarly complex integration domains like avionics or RF systems.
