Archer
Mechanical Design Engineer, Test and Integration
About this role
Archer, an electric aircraft manufacturer in San Jose, seeks a Mechanical Design Engineer to develop test fixtures and structural assemblies for flight-critical actuation and propulsion systems. You'll design proof-load fixtures, execute validation test plans, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to clear hardware for prototype aircraft flight testing.
What you'll do
- Design test and integration fixtures for flight-critical electromechanical actuation systems from concept through flight testing
- Design detailed metallic parts and assemblies for actuation and propulsion system integration
- Define and execute test plans to validate hardware safety for prototype aircraft flight
- Design structural proof-load fixtures to validate and clear flight hardware
- Develop novel test benches with flight hardware design engineers for tilt systems and propulsion validation
- Perform structural analysis, hand calculations, and FEA to verify component margins and load paths
What they're looking for
- CAD design (NX preferred, Solidworks, or equivalent)
- Load analysis, free body diagrams, and finite element analysis (FEA)
- GD&T and technical drawing creation
- Complex metallic part and weldment design
- Aerospace hardware standards and certification
- Structural analysis and proof-load fixture design
- TeamCenter or equivalent PDM systems
- Electro-mechanical actuator systems knowledge
