About this role
Arena Intelligence seeks a Backend Engineer to build product-facing APIs and data systems that power their AI evaluation platform for enterprises. You'll design scalable services, implement enterprise features like billing and multi-tenancy, and partner with research and infrastructure teams to turn evaluations into durable products.
What you'll do
- Design and ship low-latency, high-reliability APIs and services for Leaderboards, Evals, and data products
- Build enterprise-grade backends including usage metering, billing integration, authentication, RBAC, and audit logging
- Own data architecture, unifying public and private evaluation data with scalable schemas
- Partner with research team to turn novel evaluation methods into full-featured products with scoring pipelines
- Integrate third-party services like payments, auth, and analytics into cohesive, reliable systems
- Contribute across the backend stack to support multiple product surfaces at varying maturity stages
What they're looking for
- Backend engineering (5+ years, product-facing APIs and services)
- Go programming language (preferred)
- PostgreSQL design, querying, and scaling
- Data systems fundamentals (Redis, queues, data warehouses)
- API design with strong developer experience focus
- Multi-tenant, enterprise SaaS architecture
- Service composition and integration patterns
- Authentication, authorization, and audit systems
