Copy of Mission Engineer - Chicago
About this role
Axon seeks a Mission Engineer to embed with law enforcement agencies and drive operational transformation by designing and deploying AI-powered solutions on their platform. You'll own the full customer lifecycle—from discovering problems onsite to shipping working software, measuring outcomes, and iterating until adoption sticks—operating as the accountable owner of strategic account success.

- Design and ship AI agents, workflows, automations, integrations, and data pipelines on Axon's platform using real agency data
- Maintain approximately 3–4 days/week onsite presence, closely embedded in agency operations and evolving needs
- Build trusted relationships with agency leadership and stakeholders; lead QBRs, mission reviews, and strategic planning
- Measure adoption and mission impact (usage, workflow improvements, operational outcomes); iterate until solutions stick in production
- Capture field intelligence and customer insights; share patterns and expansion opportunities with Product, Engineering, and Sales
What they're looking for
- Platform/no-code automation and workflow design
- AI agent development and LLM prompt engineering
- Customer-facing technical delivery and operational transformation
- Problem discovery and requirements gathering in complex environments
- Systems integration and troubleshooting across multiple platforms
- Program/project management and stakeholder leadership
- Data analysis and metrics-driven iteration

Likely interview questions
- Walk us through a time you shipped a working automation or integration end-to-end and had to iterate in the field until users adopted it—what did you learn?
- Describe your experience discovering customer problems through onsite observation rather than a requirements document. How did you validate before building?
