About this role
Bandwidth seeks a VoIP Engineer to design, deploy, and maintain carrier-grade SIP infrastructure across global networks. You'll manage SBC systems, troubleshoot complex call flows, and automate operational workflows while serving as an escalation point for critical voice connectivity issues.
What you'll do
- Test, deploy, and maintain SIP solutions with global carriers for reliability and optimal routing
- Collaborate with R&D to integrate SIP services from SBC edge to custom voice core systems
- Deploy, upgrade, and maintain core voice infrastructure including SBCs and policy servers with on-call rotation
- Build automation scripts in Python, Bash, or Ansible to reduce manual operational workflows
- Troubleshoot complex SIP/RTP problems using Wireshark, Empirix, SIPp, and HEPIC tools
- Maintain documentation-as-code including SIP call flows and troubleshooting procedures

- SIP signaling protocols (INVITE, BYE) and SDP negotiation
- RTP/RTCP media stream management
- Python, Bash, Ansible, or GitHub scripting
- SBC platforms (Ribbon) and open-source technologies (Kamailio, OpenSIPS)
- Diagnostic tools: Wireshark, Empirix, SIPp, sngrep, Homer/HEP
- Carrier-grade voice network design and interconnects
- TLS, SRTP, STIR/SHAKEN, and E911 security/compliance
- IP networking, DNS, and routing protocols
