Mechanical Design Engineer

About this role

Base is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to spearhead the design of energy products for residential and commercial use. The role involves managing all phases of mechanical development, from concepts to production, ensuring high performance and manufacturability of battery energy storage systems.

What you'll do

• Design and optimize mechanical components for battery systems
• Create detailed 3D models and manufacturing drawings using CAD software
• Conduct thermal, stress, and structural analysis for safety and reliability
• Select materials and collaborate with suppliers for quality assurance
• Integrate mechanical design with electrical systems
• Develop test plans and validate product performance

What they're looking for

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
• 3+ years of mechanical design experience
• Proficiency in CAD (3D and 2D)
• Hands-on experience with prototypes and manufacturing techniques
• Knowledge of materials science and DFM
• Strong communication skills
• Understanding of product lifecycle management
• Familiarity with safety standards in energy storage
