About this role

Carbon Direct seeks an experienced Electrical Engineer to support their decarbonization mission by modeling power systems, grid operations, and renewable integration. You'll work across multidisciplinary teams to conduct technical analyses, develop transmission planning studies, and communicate complex energy systems insights to clients and leadership.

What you'll do

  • Design and analyze electrical systems for corporate decarbonization, including grid integration and low-carbon technologies
  • Develop transmission planning, system reliability, and integrated resource planning studies customized to client needs
  • Conduct technical due diligence on electrical infrastructure, energy storage, and industrial electrification projects
  • Build and maintain production-cost and power flow models using industry-standard tools
  • Present technical analyses and modeling results to external clients and internal stakeholders
  • Collaborate with mechanical/chemical engineers, economists, and energy modelers on client engagements

  • Transmission modeling (N-1 reliability, SCUC, SCED, AC/DC power flow)
  • Industry tools: PSS/E, PowerWorld, PSCAD, PyPSA, PROMOD, Plexos, AURORA
  • Wholesale electricity markets and grid operations (North America and EU)
  • Energy market rules, ISOs/RTOs, capacity markets, and reliability standards
  • Statistical modeling and data analysis (Python, R, MATLAB)
  • Energy storage, renewables, DERs, EVs, and industrial electrification
  • Technical communication and stakeholder presentation
  • GHG accounting and carbon market frameworks
