About this role

CivilGrid is hiring a Backend-focused SWE II to build core infrastructure for a civil design platform serving utilities and municipalities. You'll design end-to-end features across web, mobile, mapping, and data pipelines while ensuring system performance and reliability in a fast-moving Series A startup.

What you'll do

  • Design and implement end-to-end features from database models through React frontends
  • Develop web/mobile applications, mapping interfaces, data processing pipelines, and real-time collaboration tools
  • Profile and optimize performance across the full stack
  • Implement analytics, monitoring, alerts, and logging for system visibility
  • Conduct code reviews and provide constructive feedback to teammates
  • Take ownership of features and ship work autonomously

What they're looking for

  • JavaScript/TypeScript with 3+ years experience
  • Node.js or equivalent backend frameworks
  • React (1+ years)
  • PostgreSQL (preferred)
  • Geospatial tools (PostGIS, GeoJSON, mapping libraries) (preferred)
  • System performance profiling and optimization
  • SaaS product development
  • Clear communication and collaboration
