About this role
A venture-backed robotics startup in Austin seeks an Embedded Software Engineer to develop and own the software controlling advanced ground robots built for hazardous environments. You'll work across the full stack—from system requirements and prototyping to real-world testing and deployment—collaborating closely with hardware teams on sensor integration and teleoperation features.
What you'll do
- Translate system requirements into reliable end-to-end embedded software solutions for robotic platforms
- Design and prototype hyper-critical features in collaboration with teammates and end users
- Develop lightweight frontends for simulation, demonstration, and data collection
- Test and validate features in lab, simulated, and real-world environments before deployment
- Optimize network communications for performance and reliability across distributed systems
- Debug complex issues in field operations and collaborate with hardware engineers on integration
