About this role
Join a Y Combinator–backed insurtech AI startup as the first US Forward Deployed Engineer, owning end-to-end customer deployments of AI agents in insurance agencies. You'll bridge product, engineering, and customer success, traveling to client sites to integrate systems, solve problems, and drive adoption in a founding role.
What you'll do
- Own customer deployments from scoping and discovery through go-live and post-launch adoption
- Build integrations with agency systems using documented, outdated, or undocumented APIs
- Extract domain knowledge from insurance professionals and translate it into technical system designs
- Diagnose and fix customer issues with quick patches and workflow customizations for AI agents
- Travel to customer sites to drive deployment success and maintain tight customer engagement
- Identify and escalate recurring failure patterns to the core platform team
What they're looking for
- Python (2+ years production code)
- LLM and AI agent development with real-world deployment experience
- API design and system integration across multiple platforms
- Prompt engineering and AI evaluation design for production systems
- Reverse-engineering undocumented or legacy APIs
- End-to-end project ownership in ambiguous, early-stage environments
- Domain translation and technical communication with non-technical stakeholders
- Ability to travel to customer sites regularly
