Founding AI Engineer
About this role
Join an early-stage construction tech startup as a Founding AI Engineer to build AI systems that extract actionable insights from blueprints, permits, and construction documents. You'll own the end-to-end modeling and intelligence layer, applying computer vision and LLMs to real-world messy data while collaborating closely with users and product.
What you'll do
- Develop and deploy computer vision, LLM, and multimodal AI models for construction document processing
- Design and maintain data pipelines and inference systems that handle noisy, heterogeneous inputs
- Rapidly prototype and iterate AI models based on user feedback and production performance
- Collaborate with product and users to identify high-impact problems and ship solutions
- Handle data labeling, ETL, and deployment tasks as part of a small founding team
- Communicate technical progress, tradeoffs, and decisions with clarity and transparency
